Vol. 2 contains index to v. 1-2. Thornton's "Index of persons and places mentioned in Hutchinson' Massachusetts" 1879, refers to the 1795 ed. of v. 1-2, and the above, the only ed. of v. 3

Vol. 3 was edited by the author's grandson John Hutchinson. The original issue of v. 3, designed for the English market, has title slightly different, and is without volume number

Each volume concludes with an appendix of documents. For v. 1, this is largely supplemented by "A collection of original papers relative to The history of the colony of Massachusetts Bay. Boston, New England: Printed by Thomas and John Fleet, 1769. Like material for the latter parts of the "History" was collected by the author, but never pub
